About the activity

Cochamó: a remote valley, an experience that changes everything.

In Cochamó, climbing goes beyond big walls—it’s about connecting with local culture, experiencing Patagonia’s raw wilderness, and enjoying world-class days on the rock.

So, what’s this adventure really about?

This trip is designed so you can enjoy Cochamó without worrying about logistics. Just get to Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt—we’ll take care of the rest.

  • Round-trip transport Puerto Montt – Cochamó
  • Camping reservation at La Junta
  • Climbing rack, ropes, and InReach SOS provided
  • Local arriero & pack horses included (carry up to 60 kg)
  • Certified local guides, with experience guiding in the valley

Your trip begins with gear loaded onto pack horses—arranged in advance—so you can walk the 13 km approach unburdened. In the valley, a reserved campsite and a welcoming, safe environment await, shared with climbers worldwide.

Each day starts early: approaches to valleys like Trinidad and the Amphitheater, classic routes such as Mister M, Homo Santa, Camp Farm, or Onomatopeya, and afternoons back at camp to rest beneath a star-filled sky.

At the end of your journey, your gear goes down on horseback, and we’ll take you back to Puerto Varas, prepared to keep discovering Chile.

The Team: guides and arrieros

At Andes to Pacific, we work with local guides who are not only certified professionals, but have also lived and climbed through multiple seasons in Cochamó. They know the routes, understand the weather, and are deeply connected to the arriero culture that keeps the valley alive.

Our team is led by Alan Winter, Expedition & Ecotourism Engineer and Apprentice Rock Guide with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG), with over 10 years of climbing experience in Chile and around the world.

Added to this is the invaluable support of the local arrieros, who not only manage the logistics with horses but also share their deep knowledge of the land and its history. Climbing in Cochamó also means knowing and respecting their culture.

Dates and weather

  • Climbing season: January–February 2026
  • Conditions: long days, highs around 25 °C, lows around 10 °C.
  • Patagonian weather: rain is part of the game. Our team plans each day to make the most of good weather windows, always with backup options ready (like climbing at Pared Seca on rainy days).

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Patagonia is unpredictable. That’s why we offer a flexible policy that allows you to adjust your trip if the weather prevents climbing. We want you to experience it fully—without worries.
