Types of rope
In climbing, we always use dynamic ropes, but did you know there are different types for different uses? Ropes are classified based on their certifications, and the three types you'll find on the market are: single ropes, twin ropes, and half ropes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Single ropes: These ropes are identified by a '1' inside a circle and are used individually, without needing a second rope. They are the most common and versatile, ideal for most single-pitch climbing.
They come in different diameters depending on the intended use, ranging from 8.7 to 10.5 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Twin ropes: Twin ropes are distinguished by two '1s' inside circles. They are used in pairs and must be clipped together through all protection. They are lighter than single ropes and provide greater safety in falls. Ideal for technical climbing and long routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Half ropes: These ropes carry both a '1' and a '2' inside circles. Used in pairs, but unlike twin ropes, they are alternated through protection. Half ropes offer greater abrasion resistance and are ideal for alpine routes or climbing on demanding terrain.
